If you wish to book a club boat, you should do so online using the registration button on the event itself. Please note that registration is only required if you are hiring a club boat. If you are using your own boat, you do NOT have to register.
Important information for registrants
1) Please only register if you have a minimum of RYA Level 2 or equivalent.
2) All members should ensure they have appropriate equipment for the weather and conditions, to include personal buoyancy. Please also remember that it can get cold on the water, at any time of year.
3) If you are under 18 years old, please ensure you have completed an U18 Parental Consent Form (2022/2023 Season) form.
4) Please make sure you return boats to their correct storage locations and are in a state that you would expect to find them.
5) Mast head floats must be used when taking a 2000 out.
6) The jib must always be put away after sailing a 2000 and the forestay reattached.
7) Club boats must be hosed down after they have been used.
Our new volunteer-run café, run by members for members, will be open on Saturdays from 10:30am to 12pm, serving tea, coffee, home baking, bacon and egg rolls. All members are welcome. We are also serving hot snacks in the bar after club racing.
If you would like a bacon or egg roll or a hot snack, please order and pay in advance. This is so we know how many people to cater for. We wouldn't want you to miss out!
Bacon/Egg Rolls will be ready to be collected from the Sail Loft Cafe at approx 11:00am.
Hot Snack will be served in the bar straight after club racing.

The RYA First Aid course covers all the usual first aid subjects, but from a boating perspective. It is aimed at anyone who goes afloat, whether on inland waters, rivers, estuaries or on cross channel passages.
In a medical emergency a little first aid knowledge and immediate action can save lives, especially in remote locations. This one-day course is a mix of theory and hands-on practice, designed for the specific demands of providing first aid afloat to people using small craft, or to support skippers.

RYA Safety Boat Course
This two-day course provides the skills required when acting as an escort craft, safety boat or coach boat for a fleet of dinghies, windsurfers or canoes, or for racing or training activities.
Preparation, boat handling, dinghy rescue, windsurfer rescue, kayak or canoe rescue (can be covered as theory), towing, end-of-day procedures, safety, suitability of craft, local factors, communication, rescuing other water users.
You must have a Powerboat Level 2 Certificate to attend this course.

Adult Learn to Sail Week: RYA Level 1&2
7 June 5-7:30pm & 8/9 June & 15/16 June (09:30-1700)
RYA Level 1 & 2 Adult Learn to Sail courses are aimed at complete beginners, and are run over 2 weekends.
Following the RYA syllabus for Level 1 & 2 Dinghy sailing, ELYC training programs are run by a professional team, supported by volunteers. This course aims to provide a basic understanding of sailing, and award an RYA dinghy sailing certificate.
Weather permitting, it is hoped that attendees will achieve a Level 2 certificate, which will allow participation in further club activities. For more information on club activities click here.
Course cost £ per person.
This course is open to club members only. We welcome all new members.
Participants must take out an Annual Membership of East Lothian Yacht Club before or when applying for a course. If you are not already a member you can join here.
Please note that an Annual Membership is required to book this course. (Although there is an option to pay your membership monthly, please understand that you are committing to an annual membership).
Participants should be confident in the water and able to swim 50m in light clothing.
Participants are supplied with Buoyancy Aids and Safety Helmets but are required to provide their own wetsuits, boots, etc. The Course FAQs can also provide you with additional information.
Certificates are awarded through the RYA scheme, and only awarded when skills can be shown at the correct level. It should be noted that while the club will endeavour to support all participants to achieve their certificate completion is not always possible, as abilities and confidence vary and the weather can provide some challenging conditions.

VHF Radio Course Details
Course costs:
Time: 9am-6:30pm
A course and exam for anyone who owns a fixed or handheld marine VHF radio. A radio is an important piece of safety equipment on board and it is vital to understand the correct procedures.
The Short Range Certificate is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on any British flagged vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio either fixed or hand held.
Basics of radio operation, frequencies, distress, emergency and medical assistance procedures, making ship to shore telephone calls, Digital Selective Calling, Global Maritime Distress Safety System.
The exam is taken at the end of the course and consists of a written theory exam and assessment in the practical use of marine VHF radios. The exam fee is payable to the RYA.
Cadet Learn to Sail Week: RYA Stage 1&2
1-5 July 2024 (09:30-1700)
RYA Stage 1 & 2 Cadet Learn to Sail courses are aimed at complete beginners aged 11-16.
Following the RYA syllabus for Stage 1 & 2 Dinghy sailing, ELYC training programs are run by a professional team, supported by volunteers. This course aims to provide a basic understanding of sailing, and award an RYA dinghy sailing certificate.

Weather permitting, it is hoped that attendees will achieve a Stage 3 or 4 certificate.
ELYC training programs are run by a professional team, supported by volunteers. This course aims to provide a basic understanding of sailing, and award an RYA dinghy sailing certificate.
This course is open to club members only. We welcome all new members, and have lots of year round activities on and off the water.
