FUN FridayThis is an ideal social sailing event for those who have just completed a beginners course and are looking to develop their skills and confidence, and for those who just want to go out for a sail knowing that there will be a rescue boat on hand. You must hold RYA Level 2 or equivalent to register for this event. Launch time will be at 6.30pm with a briefing from our Officer of the Day (OOD) on the beach at 6.20pm. Please aim to arrive around 5.45pm so that you are rigged and ready to launch before the briefing. The finish time will be around 9pm (or earlier dependent on daylight.) Our Fun Friday sessions are led by highly experienced OODs assisted by a team of volunteers, often including our club Instructors so don't worry if you are feeling a little rusty - there will be plenty of help available to help you to rig your boat on the beach and there will be informal support available on the water. These evenings are aimed to help both adults and children develop their skills and improve their confidence on the water. The evening may involve 'free' sailing within the designated sailing area or participating in some fun games / activities on the water aimed to improve your boat handling skills. Occasionally we are able to sail around Craigleith Island if both conditions and the experience of participants permits it. The club Bar will be open after sailing to allow some relaxing and chatting post session. This club sailing activity is run by club volunteers and has no charge unless you are hiring a club boat. The cost of hiring a Topper is £5, a Laser 2000 is £10 (please note 2 people are required to sail a Laser 2000), and the charge for a Zest or a Topaz is £8. Boat hire should be paid online when you book. Please note that under 18's must have parental consent to take part in this activity. Link here.
