FUN Friday

This is a ideal evening for those who have just completed a beginners course, are confident sailing on their own and are looking to develop their skills and confidence, or just want to go out for a sail knowing that there will be a rescue boat on hand. For those who have not done a lot of sailing there will be a group that is aimed at those who want to get out on the water and get a taste of what sailing is like at North Berwick. The start time is approx. 1830hrs and finish time around 2100hrs dependent on daylight.

These evenings are aimed to help both adults and children develop their skills and improve their confidence on the water.

There will be two groups available:

        • A junior novice group: this group is aimed at juniors who want to get a taste of what sailing is like. This group will be run by our friendly instructors and may include going out in a boat with our instructors, playing games in the bay or going for a sail a bit further a field.
        •  An advanced group: this group is aimed at those who have done a bit more sailing and are reasonably happy taking a boat out by themselves.  After a briefing the evening may involve 'free' sailing within the designated sailing area or participating in some fun games / activities on the water aimed to improve your boat handling skills. To join this group we would ask that participants hold a minimum of an RYA Level 2 / Stage 2 certificate or equivalent.

In the case of bad weather permitting an on water session then the team may decide to run a short shore based session dependent on interest.

Its is our aim that the club Bar will be open after sailing to allow some relaxing and chatting post session.

This club sailing activity is run by club volunteers and has no charge unless you require to hire a club boat. The cost of hiring a Topper is £5 and a Laser 2000s is £10 (please note 2 people are required to sail a Laser 2000). Please bring the cash for the boat hire with you on the evening.

Please note that under 18's must have parental consent to take part in this activity. For the 2020 season, the consent form can be completed online once and this will provide consent for the season.

If you have any questions please email our cadet captains whose contact details can be found in the member directory.
