ELYC Pre-Activity InformationHere is some useful information to read prior to starting your course at ELYC.Food and hot drinks The club café is only open on Saturdays, so if you are coming on an activity outwith this time, you need to bring a packed lunch and drinks. The Seabird Centre can sell you hot and cold drinks. The High Street is only a 5min walk away. Travel / Parking Where possible we ask you to avoid travelling by car and there is a bicycle rack outside the clubhouse. The parking at the harbour is very limited. There is parking on the promenade, and in public car parks in the centre of North Berwick. Sailing Equipment Be prepared to get wet during the onwater sessions. The dinghies are launched off the beach and help is needed with launching and recovering rescue boats. You may want to have warm clothes to put on at lunch time and a different base layer for under your wetsuit for the afternoon to help you stay warm. ELYC can provide helmets and buoyancy aids. Helmets will be worn at the discretion of the senior instructor. Equipment you should bring
Sensible To Bring Socks, gloves, hat (woolly pull on if cold or peaked cap if sunny) although you may be wearing a helmet on the water. Towel for after the session, change of clothes and footwear Swimwear for under the wetsuit Sun protection is recommended as the effects of the sun are more noticeable. A water bottle is also essential to help you stay hydrate If you provide your own buoyancy aid it has to be a min of 50 newtons, comply with EC standards and fit you well.
