Girls Go Sailing Day – Sunday 19th August 2012

31 Jul 2012 9:04 AM | Willis

Fun, Friendly, and Free!

Calling all ELYC girls and women - it's time to get out on the water, gain confidence, develop your skills, touch up your tan, and eat cake.

Start the day at 10:00 with coffee and cake, lunch around 13:00, finish at 16:00. We intend to have two sessions on the water, morning and afternoon.

  • No charge - please bring something to share for lunch.
  • This event is only open to female club members.
  • Minimum age 8, no maximum age.
  • All cadets must have passed Stages 1 and 2.
  • Adults who don't have Level 2 are welcome, provided you can swim.

This is a renowned day of relaxed sailing, a great ‘pot luck’ lunch, and sunshine (those who have been before just forget the fog!)

We have a finite number of club boats to sail in, but we will make sure that if you come down you will get a sail. Weather permitting, as always.

Sign up now - registration closes 10:00 Friday 17 August.

Places: 20

Philippa, Catriona, Linda, and Sheila - Girls Go Sailing Day

As many of you will have noticed, our clubhouse roof is leaking, with tubs in the café and buckets in the attic, it’s clear that it now needs to be replaced to protect our much-loved clubhouse for the future.

The good news is that work is underway. Planning permission has been granted, and the project is expected to cost around £50,000. We’ve already secured a £5,000 grant from the North Berwick Trust, are applying for more funding, and will carefully use club reserves while keeping the club financially secure.

Fundraising will play an important part, and we’re keen to make this a fun and engaging process for everyone. Our target for this year, 2026, is £5,000. There are lots of ways to get involved

  • Buy a ticket for the 100 Club
  • Simply donate, using this link, or at the bar.
  • Attend fund raising events.

If you’re interested in helping with grant applications, have ideas for fundraising, or would simply like to know more, we’d love to hear from you!
