Those who were lucky enough to attend the ELYC Burns Supper on the 26th January were treated to Steve Fraser's very own take on 'My hearts in the highlands'. Rabbie would be proud.
My hearts in my Aero, my heart is not here
My hearts in my Aero (and the apres sail beer)
Chasing the wild wind and surfing the foam
My hearts in my Aero where ever I roam.
But
It's farewell to the Aero with its full carbon mast
Farewell to the Aero - it's 9 rigs a blast
Farewell to the Aero - so fast on a reach
Farewell to the Aero - so light on the beach
But fall out the Aero in winter, yet deid
Yer muscles soon fail and it rolls on yer heid
And then y'll need rescued and that's such a bummer
So I'm back in a Laser till the beginning o summer
So it's back to the Laser with all its cruel tricks
The death roll, sheet roun transom, the wee Laser flick
The hiking is brutal, I'll soon loose some lard
But capsize recovery is not quite so hard.
A draft version of the 2019 calendar has been made available here. This is for discussion during the Race Forum on Friday 11th January @ 1900 in the club bar.
The fantastic East Lothian Yacht Club cadets were out in force on the evening of November 3rd, to help celebrate the fact that our club is now 90 years old!
We would love it if you could head over to this forum post and share any stories you may have of the evening. We will upload any photos of the evening to this album.
East Lothian Yacht Club will once again be hosting a fireworks display for the community at North Berwick Harbour on 5th November 2018.
The show, which begins at 7:30pm, is a long running tradition within the town and we would be delighted if you could join us!
To find out more information, click here .
The prize giving will take place in the bar on Saturday 27th October @ 20:30. Before the prize giving there will be a (mini!!) Greek night starting around 7pm. The bar will be open after sailing as usual, and throughout the rest of the evening.
If you would like to attend the Greek night, the cost is £10 per person for three courses, payable on the night. Please email social@elyc.org.uk to book a place, indicating whether or not a vegetarian meal is required.
If you don't intend to attend the Greek night, please do come along to the bar for 8:30 to support our prize winners.
Hope to see you there!
The Social Team
Juat a quick note to highlight that the Yacht Club Bar will be open from 1900 on Friday 07/09 to welcome any thirsty Aero sailors looking to register early for this weekends event. We hope to see you there.
The Bar will also be open post sailing on both Saturday and Sunday!
Do you fancy yourself as a wine buff? Or just enjoy the odd tipple? Why not come along on Saturday 15 Sepember and test your skills in our wine quiz?
Andrew Lundy of Vino, Edinburgh, is going to supply the wine and lead the quiz. There will be six wines to be identified on the night, with extra to try after the quiz. Matching nibbles will also be served.
This is a ticketed event, and numbers are limited. Tickets are £15 per person. If you would like to attend please email me on social@elyc.org.uk . I will confirm your booking by email. Payment can either be made on the night, or we can arrange to have an invoice issued to you.
The quiz itself will start about 8pm and will last around an hour and a half, so plenty of time to catch the last train/bus home.
The session will be held in the bar after racing next Saturday (so starting around 5.30/6pm) and will be of interest to anyone who intends to enter the regatta, or just wants to participate in club racing.
There is fresh keg of beer (other drinks, or a cup of tea, will be available!) and pies will be provided so please do come along.
Hope to see you there.
