ELYC Rowing Team win Convenor's Cup
at
North Berwick Rowing Regatta

As part of the North Berwick Rowing Club regatta on 27th August 2011 a special invitation race was run to encourage less experienced crews to have a go at rowing the St Ayles skiff. Teams were entered by Newhaven, Dunbar and ELYC. And they don’t get any less experienced than ELYC who up until lunchtime had never even sat in the rowing boat (at least three of them hadn’t).
After a 20 minute practice the lithesome and athletic crew of Gerry Hughes, Alan Mackenzie, Robbie Lawson and David Davidson were quietly confident that they wouldn’t sink. Coxed by Frazer MacDonald Hay of NBRC the team quickly gelled and took the 10 minute race by storm keeping Newhaven and Dunbar in their wake and crossing the line for a win.
The rowing regatta season has come to an end now, but there are still opportunities for anybody to have a go at rowing the boats, details of when to come rowing and photos from the regatta are available at www.nbrowingclub.com
